How It’s Made

We understand that we are providing more than a “product”. Having one’s cap and gown to wear at commencement is second only to a bride having a wedding dress in time to wear. It’s a responsibility that our employees take very seriously.

The way we choose to craft our products with the highest quality materials and the highest standards of quality control means that your regalia will last as long as your memories do.

Hand-made Quality

Each of our manufacturing plants feed our 140,000 square foot warehouse in Roanoke, where customer service and picking and packing are located. All Oak Hall gowns are cut and sewn by talented individuals that are expertly skilled at their craft. All embroidery work is done in-house by expertly trained technicians.

It's All In the Details

An inner lining is sewn into all our yokes, allowing for a smooth finish and a classic drape. This is an Oak Hall exclusive. Another Oak Hall exclusive is our mortarboard caps featuring elastic on each side, eliminating the ride up happening on caps with elastic in the back.

Unmatched Quality and Custom

We have helped design and manufacture custom doctoral regalia for more than 200 universities across the country. Each custom tailored doctoral gown goes through seven stages of pressing. A great deal of hand work is done on each custom doctoral gown. Custom sized gowns can be made at no additional cost for physically challenged students. We manufacture hoods for each institution, world wide.
